Sandvik Buys Tungsten Mine to Secure Supply

Sandvik AB of Sweden has agreed to buy Wolfram Bergbau- und Huetten-GmbH Nfg. KG of Austria. Sandvik is the worlds biggest maker of metal cutting tools. Sandvik is Wolfram’s largest customer, buying tungsten from the mine and processing plant.

Anders Thelin, President of Sandvik Tooling is quoted as saying:

WBH will bring know-how, technology and capacity for world class production and recycling of tungsten carbide. It provides us with resources to manage the entire production process, from ore to finished cemented carbide powder.
