King Island Scheelite (KIS) has announced an underground tungsten reserve at its Dolphin project, Tasmania, Australia. The reserve totals 1.63 million tonnes grading 11.30% WO3 for 21,150 tonnes at a 0.70% WO3 cut-off. Sandvik AB of Sweden has agreed to buy Wolfram Bergbau- und Huetten-GmbH Nfg. KG of Austria. Sandvik is the worlds biggest maker of metal cutting tools. Sandvik is Wolfram's largest customer, buying tungsten from the mine and processing plant.
Net production was 272,483 mtu’s with an average grade of 1.03% WO3 and recovery of 73.5% (compared to 2007: 286,031 mtu’s, average grade 1.16% WO3 and recovery 74.1%). For full story, click here
